The first race of the year and I had the great pleasure to debut the all new Xray T2 on the track. In co-junction with the HPI Selection series race was the open-class Revolution Touring Car Championship, of which I joined. Along with my good buddy Jason, we were the only Xray drivers in attendance. The track surface was asphalt and rubber tires were used, both brushless and brushed motors were allowed.

Prior to the race, I had only managed to put in about 3 days of testing and practice with the T2. At the track, familiar and new faces naturally asked me about the handling of the car. Well, the biggest difference I felt was that I could easily carry a higher cornering speed, other than that I was still not able to elaborate much yet.

But after this first race, I now have more observations to share with everyone. Firstly, I am very happy to say that the car definitely looks much stronger than it looks. Frankly I was skeptical about how it would fare against knocks when I first saw the smaller uprights and steering blocks. Judging from some of the hard hitting knocks my car received during the race, I would say that it is probably as tough as the T1 platform. The T2’s front bumper design is absolutely terrific and the drive-train is as smooth as ever. For the Top-deck Multi-Flex setting, I was using what I best described as a ‶medium-stiff※ setting. For the Chassis Multi-Flex, I was using the medium setting (as per setup book) but with the bulkhead shim screw used. I am happy to report that I did not experience any tweak even with the knocks throughout the race. Lastly, minute changes to setup could be done and felt easily as well.

Going into this race, all I had was the out-of-box T2 and spare parts was still at least 1 week away from coming. Naturally I was worried about parts breakage, but thankfully the T2 was up to the task for today! Here are the results for the open-class:

Revolution Touring Car Championship 2006 (1st Of 8)
1st - Joe Hwee (TQ)
2nd - Bryan Thng / Xray T2
3rd - Ah M
4th - Audi
5th - Pason Phua
6th - Esmail
7th - Jason / Xray T1'FK05
8th - Noel
9th - BK Lim
10th - --

All in all, it was a fun first race for 2006 and a very nice debut for my new T2. Special thanks to the folks of Tai Sing Corp for organizing the first touring car race of 2006 and Racecraft Infinity for the great venue.
